I'm incredibly bothered by this new law... in addition to the reasons you've posted, there've been a lot of unfair convictions out there, including someone I know personally... it's just going to make it harder for them to attempt a normal life.

I agree. 

And for those that are guilty - I would not argue if they were to never be let out of prison - BUT they are let out of prison, so when they are free, how about we don’t try and make their life as stressful and miserable as possible because that’s a real good way to get someone to go out and re-offend. I don’t care if people think they don’t “deserve” to live a normal life, all I care about is that people are probably safer if they are allowed to lead as normal a life as possible. 

I think finding ways to focus on preventing recidivism and close monitoring (because it’s way too often that we hear about overworked parole officers who don’t have anywhere near the time to pay as much attention to each client as they should!) would be a much better way to keep people safer.
